Limited Validity Passport Los Angeles

If your passport was issued for less than ten years, it can be exchanged once the reason for the limit is resolved.
Why a passport gets limited validity
- Emergency issuance: a book issued quickly for urgent travel.

Check the expiry date printed in your book. If it is less than ten years from the issue date, it is a limited validity passport.

How the exchange works
Sameday Passport & Visa reviews the book and the reason it was limited, then confirms whether the replacement is filed on the DS-82 as a renewal or on the DS-11 as a new application.
If the limit was set because citizenship evidence was incomplete, that evidence must be supplied now — an original birth certificate with a seal, a Consular Report of Birth Abroad, or a Certificate of Naturalization or Citizenship.
Government fees for a limited validity replacement are $213.36, payable to “US Department of State” by cashier's check or money order. Fees are dependent upon application type. Sameday Passport & Visa can obtain the money order for you for an additional $10.00 so you can pay everything by debit card, cash or check.
How to apply
Seven things to prepare.
Complete the online application
Fill in the DS-82, or the DS-11 if your case requires a new application, then bring it in unsigned. Do not sign the application until instructed to do so. Sameday Passport & Visa confirms which form applies to your case.
You must provide a Social Security number, if you have been issued one, in accordance with 22 U.S.C. 2714a and 22 C.F.R 51.60(f).
Your limited validity passport
You must submit your current undamaged passport. The limited book will be returned to you along with the new passport.
Proof of citizenship
If the limit was set because citizenship evidence was incomplete, that evidence must be supplied now. Your evidence must be an original or certified copy. Photocopies and notarized copies are not acceptable.

Proof of identification
Please provide the original of one of the following.
- Valid driver's license.
- Valid state or government identification.

Flight itinerary
If you have a copy of your flight itinerary or ticket, please include it. If you do not have a travel itinerary or a ticket, it's okay.
Passport photos
Passport photo services are available at the Sameday Passport & Visa office. Photos must be 2″ x 2″ on a white background, and must not be older than one month.
Applying by mail? Two letters of authorization and a service order form
If you are processing your passport application with Sameday Passport & Visa by mail, please fill out two Letters of Authorization and the service order form, and send them along with the documents.
